EM+ is an independent choreographic project co-founded and co-led by Emanuele Rosa and Maria Focaraccio, two contemporary dance artists with strong roots in both classical and contemporary training. Their co-authorial journey began in 2020, although their artistic paths have intersected in various contexts since 2008. EM+ integrates their shared movement vocabulary and creative inquiry with a commitment to visual and performing arts, fostering ongoing collaborations with diverse artists across the European dance scene.

The work of EM+ investigates identity, interpersonal dynamics, cultural constructs, and the nuances of gender and relational experiences. Their practice emerges from rigorous research into movement archives and performative syntax, combining expressive precision with conceptual depth. The duo’s choreographies, such as "HOW TO _ just another Boléro" (2021), "all you need is" (2022), and "amən" (2024) have been presented at festivals nationally and internationally, earning awards and selections in prominent platforms of contemporary dance.
The first work "HOW TO _ just another Boléro" (2021) is the winning project of Call from the Aisle 2021, selected at the Vetrina della giovane danza d’autore eXtra 2021 and at dFeria 2023 (San Sebastián, Spain). EM+'s second work, all you need is (2022), received the Audience award at Les Lendemains Qui Dansent 2024, the 1st Prize Award at TWAIN Direzioni Altre 2022 Award and got selected at Vetrina della giovane danza d’autore eXtra 2022. 

EM+'s works are presented in numerous festivals in Italy and abroad (Spain, Portugal, Greece and France). In 2023, Emanuele and Maria have been selected as artists of ResiDance - action of Network Anticorpi XL and for the internationalization project of Italian performing arts Crossing the sea. They have been also invited to the section Visiting Artists Programme of the European project Big Pulse, as part of the Festival Tanec Praha, Prague in June 2023. 

In 2024 EM+ is selected in the trilateral project for international choreographic residencies (IT/DE/FR) Étape Danse. Their third work, amən, is selected for the Open Studios at NID Platform 2024.

EM+ creates work that challenges binary thinking, celebrates the complexity of human embodiment, and bridges disciplines through interdisciplinary collaboration. Their productions are co-produced and supported by institutions and networks such as Spacca, C&C Company, S’ALA | spazio per artist+, PERIFERIE ARTISTICHE – Centro di Residenza del Lazio, KOMM TANZ / Passo Nord, Network Anticorpi XL and Étape Danse (IT/DE/FR).
