Maria Focaraccio (1992) works as dancer for Imperfect Dancers Company, Fattoria Vittadini, C&C Company, Tanztheater Erfurt.
As choreographer she creates Storie Brevi - nulla di troppo intimo, selected at Vetrina della giovane danza d’autore 2019, Dia - Fantasie Ritmiche (2020) together with MariaGiulia Serantoni and Ghosts Are My Reality (2023) with Katharina Scheidtmann and Theresa Maria Forthaus supported by ADA Studio (Berlin, DE).
In 2022 Maria is recipient of the scholarship DIS-TANZ-SOLO (Funded by the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and Media within the framework of the initiative NEUSTART KULTUR, aid programm DIS-TANZEN by the Dachverband Tanz Deutschland) for her research project „A practice of ex-dangering“, an exploration through body and movement of what is left of the magical rituals from the southern Italian region of Basilicata.
Since 2021 she has collaborated with Emanuele Rosa, with whom she founds the collective EM+.
In 2019 and 2022 she is author of the choreographies of the musicals Rock of Ages and On Your Feet at Le Théâtre, Emmen (CH). In 2024 she is selected for a directing internship at Theater Heilbronn (DE) as part of the production 'Der eingebildete Kranke' (The Imaginary Sick Man), directed by Susanne Lietzow.
After graduating in Philosophy from the University of Pisa, Maria is currently studying Tanzwissenschaft (Critical Dance Studies) at the Freie Universität Berlin (DE).
